Michael D. Hart
Hello. I am Michael D. Hart. I thought I would take a few moments to introduce myself.
I graduated from Rutgers University School of Law - Camden in 1989. After two years' practice in DC, representing a government agency in large, commercial bankruptcy cases, we moved to Roanoke, and opened Michael D. Hart, P.C. in June, 1992. The firm focused on representing clients in consumer and small business bankruptcy cases from its beginning.
The move to Roanoke was a return to Western Virginia. Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, I first came to the area in 1984 as a graduate student at Liberty University. There, I met my wife (of 26 years as of this writing). After law school in New Jersey, and an short stint in Washington, we returned to the Roanoke area, on the conviction that this was an ideal place to raise a family.
I am, first and foremost, a Christan. By that, I mean that I have an every-day relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ as both savior and Lord, and that relationship is the center of my life. This affects and shapes everything else about me. The first of "everything else" is my wife and kids. The saying is that the practice of law is a cruel mistress (and it has destroyed many a home), but we settled that issue long ago. I am a family-first lawyer.
But I am also passionate about the law, and about obtaining for my clients the relief and protection available to them. I am called to represent my clients with excellence. And I truly believe that the fresh start provided by bankruptcy is often a grace of God in the lives of my clients. I believe that, over our 20 years, we have met my objective of providing excellent and effective representation to the thousands of clients we have had the opportunity to represent.
Of course, engagement in a local church is a big part of being a serious Christian. We are members of
Parkway Wesleyan Church, where I am on the team that leads Sunday worship and teach small groups.
